To Create an Account:
- Click the "Sign Up" button in the top navigation menu
- Enter your email address and create a secure password
- Verify your email address through the confirmation link
- Log in and start using all Linigu features
Security Note
We use industry-standard encryption to protect your account information. Your password is hashed and never stored in plain text. We never sell or share your personal information with third parties.
Using the SDL Converter
The SDL Converter is our flagship tool, designed specifically for translators working with SDL Trados files and translation memories.
Supported File Formats
Complete translation projects including source files, translation memories, termbases, and project settings. Convert to extract content, review translation memories, or share with non-Trados users.
Completed translation projects returned by translators. Convert to verify content, extract translations, or archive project deliverables.
Bilingual databases containing source-target segment pairs. Convert to DOCX, Excel, or TMX format for editing, sharing, or migrating to other CAT tools.
Industry-standard translation memory format. Convert to Excel for analysis or editing, or to other formats for integration with different CAT tools.
Terminology databases with multilingual term definitions. Convert to Excel or DOCX for client review, terminology management, or migration purposes.
Bilingual translation files containing source and target text. Convert to DOCX or Excel to review translations, perform QA checks, or share with stakeholders.
Translation pack files from Transit NXT containing translation units and segments. Convert to Excel format to review translation segments, analyze language pairs, or share with team members without requiring Transit software.
Project package files from Transit NXT containing terminology databases and multilingual glossaries. Convert to Excel or TMX format to manage terminology, view all language variants, export for use in other CAT tools, or share terminology resources with team members.
Step-by-Step Conversion Process
Access the SDL Converter
Navigate to the SDL Converter from the main navigation menu under "Tools" > "SDL Converter". You must be logged in to use this tool. If you don't have an account yet, click "Sign Up"—it only takes a minute.
Upload Your File
You have two options for uploading:
- Drag and Drop: Simply drag your file and drop it into the upload area. The area will highlight when you hover.
- Click to Browse: Click in the upload area to open your file browser and select your file.
Automatic File Recognition
Once uploaded, Linigu automatically detects your file format. The interface displays:
- File name and size
- Detected file type (SDLPPX, SDLTM, etc.)
- Available conversion options for that file type
Select Output Format
Choose your desired output format:
DOCX (Word)
Best for reviewing content, adding comments, or sharing with clients. Preserves formatting.
XLSX (Excel)
Ideal for terminology management and statistical review. Structured data in rows and columns.
XML
For technical users needing raw data in structured format for further processing.
TMX
For migrating translation memories between CAT tools or creating backups.
Initiate Conversion
Click the "Convert" button to begin processing. Depending on file size and complexity, conversion typically takes 5-30 seconds. You'll see a progress indicator during this time. The file is uploaded securely via encrypted connection.
Download Your Converted File
Once conversion completes, a download link appears. Click "Download" to save the file to your computer. The file downloads immediately—no waiting required.
Common Use Cases
Sharing with Clients
Convert .sdltm files to Excel to provide clients with translated segments for review and approval without needing Trados.
